One of the most smoldering sessions by the Hutcherson quintet with Harold Land. Vocals by Gene McDaniels bracket each piece and the group is expanded to include guitar and congas. Joe Chambers and Candido make a fiery drum team. Added to the original album are versions of three of the tunes by Hutcherson's 1978 quintet and the L.A. Philharmonic.  With Hill's Passing Ships becoming the surprise success of the jazz world in 2003, this 1968 quintet session of inventive post hard bop with Joe Farrell, Charles Tolliver, Victor Sproles, and Billy Higgins, first issued in 1981, is sure to experience a resurgence. An alternate take of the title tune is added to this first ever CD issue, mastered in 24-bit from the original analog tapes.

 All three volumes (That Healin' Feelin', Total Response and All) of The United States of Mind are collected in this 2-CD set. The band configurations features Randy Brecker, and Cecil Bridgewater on trumpet, and George Coleman, Houston Person, or Harold Vick on tenor sax. Most of the vocals are handled by Salome or Andy Bey. The first volume includes the original vocal version of "Peace," recently revived by Norah Jones. While a number of selection from these albums have made acid jazz compilations and remix albums, the original albums in full form are on CD for the first time, mastered in 24-bit from the original analog tapes.

 Sam River's second albums is a killer quintet album from '65 with Freddie Hubbard, Herbie Hancock, Ron Caster, and Joe Chambers at the top of their game. An alternate take of "Mellifluous Cacophony" is added to the original album, which is mastered in 24-bit from the original analog tapes.

 This west coast pianist came east to hook up with Lee Morgan, Garnett Brown, Jackie McLean, Bob Cranshaw, and Billy Higgins for a typical classic Blue Note date. The results are in the music although this album failed to get the recognition it deserved when it was first issued. "Do It' is an unsung groove classic from the label. This is the first CD release of this album, mastered from the original analog types in 24-bit.
