A new image for a new millennium, and Emo Philips continues to wow international audiences, recently breaking attendance records at Las Vegas’ Riviera Casino and the 2001 Edinburgh Comedy festival.
David Letterman gave him his big break featuring him on his show and inviting him back many times. Jay Leno called him, “the best joke writer in America.” Emo has performed in cable specials for CINEMAX, SHOWTIME, and HBO. He has two hit comedy albums under his belt including E=MO2 which won a New Music Award for Best Comedy Album. He’s also scripted and starred in three commercials for Sony..
Emo executive produced the original version of MEET THE PARENTS subsequently remade by Universal. It opened #1 at the Box Office in October 2000.
In 1999 GQ bestowed upon him perhaps the highest honor of his career. An illustrious panel of his peers judged three of his gags to be among the 75 best jokes of all time! Only one other performer matched this feat.
Emo will be appearing on the Late Show With David Letterman on October 5th, with further appearances on the Late Late Show With Craig Kilborn (CBS) and Late Night With Conan O’Brien (NBC) during October, November and December. Regional press has been targeted. He will be touring extensively during the next year in continued support of the CD. A redesigned website – www.emophilips.com has been receiving significant traffic – some 64,000 hits in August alone.
